Im pretty sure id rather eat the rotten back end of a roadkill skunk and down it with beer before I go back to that sleezehole... seriously, no way do they stock 1500 fish a week there, either that or people are catching 1500 fish a week, and I doubt that. The city just wants to try n bang people out a few bucks.... meh....[mad]

Yea good ole floyd scam park is what I call it [cool] I personally havent had to much success trout or cat season. I do pretty well on the back pond tiny LMB will hit trout spinners like nothin.Even though its 5 mins away from me I gave that place up a long time ago.

Little bit of a drive but hit Boulder City pond, we always kill them out there. Power worms, spinners or just power bait. Never more then 15-20 people there and we usually catch and release 15+ a trip....just have to move around and find where they are.

Ya a friend a mine likes to go out to boulder city pond, but he lives in henderson so... I figure if im gonna head out there I might as well go to mead ya kno.

I fished FLSP for about 3 years then went to Boulder and slayed em'. No bad people right up in your spot and no cover charge. Now catfish are a different story.
Both ponds do have good bluegill fishing. FLSP 3 fish $6 BCVP 3 fish no charge = priceless.

Yeah, all of the urban ponds can be a fat MISS. At least we have a place to wet a line. I used to fish Sunset all the time, and I have caught hundreds of fish there, but I never did any good at the other ponds.
I live deep in Henderson though, so I just make the drive to the lake. I'd rather get skunked on real water any day.
From my driveway, I am 20 minutes from Hemminway, 30 minutes from Callville, and 40 minutes from Willow Beach.
If I feel like driving for an hour, I'll go to Echo.

floyd lamb is place you have to put your hours in at. Look at 240sx he has caught lots of LMB there. he also put his hours in. When I first started fishing FLSP i was skunked the first half dozen or more times. It was because I was fishing the wrong way and at the wrong time. After a while I started producing fish. I eventually caught a five pound kat. After that I havent fished much. Those who know the pond more than I say the fishing has not been as it used to be the past few years. There is one guy who has one goose with a funny feather and only feeds that one.

Lvrider, I'm not talkin bout LMB brotha, im talkin bout the fact that the say they stock 1200+ fish a week out there, its my opinion that if that were true their would be 1000's of holdovers and that pond would be full to the brisket wit trout constantly, and I just dont think thats the case man.. That and all the clowns that go out there that dont have any flunkkin courtesy. Look, I grew up on rancho and craig rd. I moved to centennial hills in 03 so im pretty familiar with floyd lamb, I hear what ur sayin man, but not much technique in powerbait or jiggin lip ripperz or power bait worms, that place has been on a decline for sometime now, and this year I call shenanigans lol. boulder pond and sunset park is fine and dandy if u live deep in henderson but if ima go out that way, im goin to the BIG lake or cottonwood ya kno.

Weekends can be a real nightmare out there. They dont really regulate fish limits out there. Even though they say three, alot of the people out there keep alot more than theyre share. Its been a year since I have been, but they do hold alot of trout there. Try salmon eggs, very small hook, very light line!

I know its a bad idea but I was thinking of hitting that dump up tommorrow morning. I gotta a baitcaster that needs some tuning might even bring the flyrod. Ill be going early and leavin before the dropshots show up. What trout lures/flies have you guys killed em on?[cool]

Well I did it I hit up floyd scam this morning. I got there a lilttle early the gate was locked I waited on the side of the road like a creep for the grounds keeper to open it up.
Casted nothing but panther martains n mepps for a straight 2 hours made a few laps around the pond all for nada.
Just wish I had this much luck my last canadian goose hunt (see pics) too bad they dont let ya blast a few if you dont catch nothing. I also seen a bunch of signs that there is going to be a farmers market down there today.

Sunset is THE urban pond, it's a block away from my house so its the first option if I'm low on gas for the lake - Most days, I pull so many fish from that pond I leave satisfied as a nun on Sunday morning

There's nothing like pulling so many fish that you leave feeling all fished out. If ever you guys have the chance, I recommend a visit...but don't bait fish, bring as diverse selection of power worms as you can and you'll be pulling em in all day long.

I have had success out at FL many many times, and For the same reason u go to sunset pond, I went to FL.. convenience. this post was really just to point out a lack thereof, which indicates an overall bigger problem.

I dont know I have had some extremely good trout days at Floyd Lamb this year. I am talking a fish on every other cast for 4+ hours. Whats weird though is the way I fished FLSP this last few years was just not producing fish. Previous years I would swear by a 1/8 silver kastmaster, velveeta cheese or even certain colors of powerbait but this year it just wasn't cutting it. I think I had my very first trout skunk at FLSP ever this year... Only setup I have had killer days on this year and has been super consistent at Floyd is a very light weight drop shot setup. Berkley 3" trout worms in chartreuse or chesse or the Berkley ALIVE trout worms in Salmon egg red.. all nose hooked, Size 10 or 12 hook 10-14 inches from weight. Honestly I even bought a light/ultra fast action rod just to fish this setup at that park this year. It works that well.

wanted to add some food for thought to my last post..
I went fishing with my father at sunset park the same weekend that I had happened to fished FLSP... I had about a 40 fish day at floyd lamb with that drop shot setup and got outfished the next day 10 to 1 by my father at sunset park. He was using velveeta cheese and destroying them and my drop shot setup pretty much left me empty handed... I could just not get it to work at sunset = /

i have found Orange Power Eggs decimate the trout at just about every pond in town.
I have never been skunked at the ponds.
If you aren't catching anything, change your bait.... i always switch it up every 10-15 minutes and never had a bad day..... I even caught a 4 pound cat at floyd on power eggs...lol....

I picked up some different color Power Eggs today. Of course, I forgot to get orange, so I might have to go back and grab that but hopefully it will help actually get a fish on the end of the hook. Any tips on how to rig it? I've never been successful fishing thus far, but at least I enjoy the fresh air and sunlight.

they are sometimes hard to find in orange..... grab as many as you can if you find em
