Hey guys,
I am gonna take the boat out tomorrow, but this time I am gonna take a shot with my fly rod. I set up a 9wt with a shooting head system. This rig is typically used in saltwater. I have only had luck during boils so far using flies.
One fish on the fly would make my day... we shall see.

Please disregard the previous post. All it takes to ruin a day of fishing is a flakey babysitter who is supposed to watch my kids after school. I'll be nice and not mention who it is.
Looks like Floyd Lamb here I come.
Later guys,

I have caught them on the clouser Minnow and a slip bobber filled with water. Late August or early September when they are boiling is a good bet.

Check it out I got names for them all. Floyd Lamb State Park aka tule springs is "floyd scam park aka foolsprings" I gave it that name when I took my K9 friend for a walk and they still charged me.
Lorenzi Park Pond is "poor-renzi" I gave it that name after I pulled into the parking lot and was immediately asked if I had any change to spare later on I saw a homeless couple passed out in the bushes.
Sunset Park Pond is "sun-get" because all you get is a sun burn.
Boulder City Pond is "boulder tity" because the fishing is so slow thats bout all you can think about.
Lake Mohave is "lake slow-have" because the drive out there is slow and long.
I haven't really came up with any catchy ones for lake mead let me know if you guys think of any[:p]

i agree with the lorenzi park one... i still remember some homeless guy sleeping under a palm tree with a empty vodka bottle by his head

I tried to fish there once but the cops had it taped off and had CSI was looking for shell casings.

Telbone - you want these? (FREE) send me a PM for mailing info or pick up info. The weights are in the eyes, like a lead dumbell.

Thanks for the offer of flies iamthemf. Maybe I can pick those up from you at the 33 hole cleanup. I have quite a few similar flies I have tied. I always like to look at others flies and see how they tie theirs compared to mine.
I have two patterns I researched for lake mead striper. One is called a striper bunny. The other is a deceiver tied very similar to the chartreuse clouser of yours. It however has a weight in the tail that is s'posed to make it act more erractic. I don't have pics of either, but I will take one and post it soon.
Thanks for the info guys..
I didn't even hit Floyd Lamb today. Ended up catching up on chores so that on Sun (my next day off), I can take the kids out in the boat. Probably won't try a fly rod w/ them along though.
Later,

Here is my go to striper fly..
It's called the striper bunny. I couldn't find my other pattern, but this one has done well for me.
Sorry the pic is blurry.

at bass pro, inside there fly gear cave; they have a 6 or 7" rainbow trout fly that just looks nasty. The main guy that works the cave says he catches the toads at willow from a float tube withh it.

I stopped in Bass Pro Shops today after work and

ly the guy informed me they no longer had the fly

. Showed me a pic of it though, so if my memory holds I may be able to tie it.
Thanks for the advice.
