Went out to lindon boat harbor for some bass this morning and didn't have much luck on the bass, but I caught a 20" channel cat on a chartreuse paddlebug tipped with a 1/2 inch piece of crawler. It was a fun fight because I was using my light jigging gear. You never know what those things will hit! I also tried off the point because I could see some huge fins out there and they looked like cat's but I couldn't get the bait far enough out there. Oh well I will try more next time. Hope to see everyone tomorrow at jordanelle. Just look for my wife and I paddleing along on our float tubes.

Hey Jed, that's cool that you caught a cat on a lure. I've never accomplished that yet. I'll see ya up there at Jordanelle. I'll be in a Teal Green float tube.

I had a nice 7 pound cat take a 3" tube while fishing the rocks for bass at Utah lake. It was a surprise especially since I thought I had a huge LM bass on for a while. I hooked one at willard on a white 3" grub and another on a small spinner bait and I have heard of some hooking them on cranks and poppers. It's true you never know what they are going to bite!

HEY JED, DID YOU BY CHANCE NOTICE IF THEY WERE STILL LAUNCHING BOATS AT LINDON. I WOULD LIKE TO GET ON THE LAKE AGAIN BUT I'M RUNNING OUT OF MARINAS WITH ENOUGH WATER.
THANKS ALLAN

Actually I saw a couple of people launch there while I was there. I am not sure how deep the water is, but I am sure it is pretty shallow, but the one boat was pretty big and they made it out so I know it can be done.

[cool]Hey, Jed, was that "paddlebug" a Roadrunner jig...or are you field testing some other lures too?

no it was not a roadrunner, at least I don't think so. They are one of the cheepest lures you can find at wall mart. It is a white headed jig, with chartreuse plastic that flairs out at the sides and has two small tails that make it kind of swim eratically as it falls.

I think they call those "Stumpjumpers". If you can find some of those in hot pink, that is a super color in Utah Lake...especially as the water starts to cool down in the fall. Caught lots of white bass, walleye and channels on that hot pink. Last fall they also worked for the bluegills, crappies and perch around Lindon.
