Fishing Machine called me this AM as I was cooking breakfast and asked me if I wanted to go fishing. I have just been waiting for the right moment to do just that and postponed the honey-do that I was supposed to do today and took Terry fishing.

We were crappie fishing from the get-go, but Terry, being the old bass fisherman that he is just had to catch a 3 lb bass on his second cast. That got the skunk off the boat quickly. We fished that area for 5 more minutes and then made a run upriver. On my 2nd cast upriver, I landed a 7.4 lb drum.(Naturally). Then we moved to some blown down trees and caught a few tiny crappie. We decided to run back to the Wolftever creek and fish in there as we expected warmer water than was out in the river.

The first dock that we stopped at, we got into the small crappie immediately and did manage a keeper or two from that dock, when we hear this voice calling to us. One dock down, there was a young lady who thought that she recognized us, so we moved on down there to see if we indeed had met her before. It was cuonthelake, a relatively new poster who is dying to learn the how to secrets of crappie fishing. It took me about 5 minutes to tell her everything that I knew about the subject, and gave her some good crappie lures, taught how to tie the uni-knot, and how to shoot jigs without impaling yourself. She seemed anxious to learn. It was good meeting you, Candi.

Then back to the first dock again where we landed a few more fish. Then we were going into Savannah creek when we saw Polo up in his yard throwing rocks into the lake. We eased over there and asked him how in the world were we going to catch fish if he was throwing rocks in there and making all that noise? He stopped to grin, and talk awhile. I could tell that Fishing Machine was getting anxious as he picked up a rod and tried catching some of Polo's pets, but to no avail. They won't bite unless Freida points them out. emoBigSmile

We fished about 3 or 4 different spots and got into some pretty nice crappie and I caught a nice chunky lm bass. It looked like one of Jmax's pets. Let it go after a lecture. (Trashy green fish) emoBang We ended up in Island Cove where only the baby crappie live and caught a couple more before calling it a day. It started out chilly (47 degrees) and ended up sunny and warmer. We had to take our coats off later in the day.

How-to today: All fish were deep. It was a 15 count by me and a 20 count by Terry. He counts faster than I do. We never caught a shallow fish today. Most fish that we saw on the graph were hanging out in the 10-14 foot depth. We used 1/32 oz jigs and I have convinced Terry that he now needs to add the BG scented wiggler to his arsenal. I had a great time. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
