I did it! Caught my first walleye last Friday. Walleyebob and I hit UL about 7 am, and fished it until almost 5. I'm now convinced that walleye too are a fish of 1000+ casts. And in the end I didn't even get mine legitimately, I ended up snagging him on the tail, but I don't even care, it's in the history books! But what was making me mad is some guys 20 feet from us limited out on wallye, but for some reason we couldn't replicate whatever they were doing. Anyways it was awesome. I guess my goal now has to be to catch one in the mouth; )

Congrats! That counts in my book. I am still in the "haven't caught a walleye yet" category but I'm working on changing that. I don't care if it is small, tail-hooked, or I only get one. It is the only species of fish I haven't caught out of Utah Lake.
Don't get too bent out of shape about people being just feet from you and catching them every other cast. I remember a trip to Utah Lake one June and I was targeting bluegill (I'm sure a lot of you are shocked) and I was fishing probably 25 feet from a couple of other bluegill anglers. They were getting jack squat and I had a limit in 2 hours. They asked me what I was using and I showed them. That day it was really a case of "you can't catch 'em where they ain't."

Very Nice Fish!!! Those fish can be hard to catch. I only make 1 or 2 trips a year for them....fish all day and sometimes , just sometimes the stars align and you will limit out in 10 minutes and then nothing for the rest of the day/year. We do catch a few duing the year by accident tho. Congrats on a nice, earned, fish!

Been there... I was down there last Tuesday and only caught one walleye, but the two guys fishing 20 feet from us landed 15 in a matter of a couple hours. It's the most frustrated I think I've ever been on a fishing trip! We were using the same tandem jigs, same color, and same reel speed, but did not get the same results! It looks like a matter of feet can be the difference down there!
