Went down lake right off the bat and should have had a limit in about 6 minutes but two pulled off and basspwner put our first keeper in the boat..... all on the brightest colored traps we had. Went the next three hours without a bite and ran up river when we came upon a very hard win blown rip rap bank and wore them out for about 15 minutes. Finished out our limit there and caught our big fish of the day, pushing 4lbs. Bite died and we made a bad mistake of running down lake to where I figured they would have moved up since the water temp was rising with the quickness, only to find nothing again. With an hour left, we returned up river to where we caught them and found the area to be calm and no wind. Didn't matter, caught one the first cast and then proceeded to loose a top three bag of fish in a thirty minute time span, me and basspwner have never lost so many fish, and to make things worse, very big fish. I guess it happens and that's one of the frustrating aspects of fishing traps in stained water but it hurts bad in the end. Judging from what we saw in the last few minutes of this tournament I would guess Nickajack is getting ready to be alot of fun for trap fishing. Like I said earlier, we lost some very large fish in the end, but I do not believe it would have beat 1st place.... 16 lbs is tough to beat any day anywhere. We finished 9th and got a little cash. Congrats to those who finished ahead of us.
