Anyone been by Mantua lately? Was thinking of putting on Sunday..
With Hyrum being almost ice free Mantua must be close to the same condition.[cool]

I don't know how much this will help. I drove by Tuesday evening. The whole Southeast corner, from the inlet east was ice free. But that was all. But again, it was Tuesday.

Got cold last night. Have new ice on my pond. Though I don't think even the dog should walk on it.
Is the boat launch open at Hyrum yet? I was gonna try launching to Willard or Cutler this morning, but then it got damned cold, and we got new snow. Ah spring in Utah.
Curious to know when Newton becomes launchable. I think it's time I take my sled out of the back of my car!
But I'm gonna keep using ice jigs all summer I think.
I checked it out Wednesday and it was mostly covered in rotten ice. I think it will be a little longer before you can launch a boat there.

I now have switched the sled and pontoon spots in the garage. The sled is now hanging up on the pulleys and the pontoon is on the floor. Now I just need to get my hands on a trolling motor.

Time to change the line on the reels as well!

i think you still have one to three weeks for mantua to get ice free in the the whole lake. that depends on the weather also.

I have been fantasizing about Mantua for a month now. Cannot wait to wet my lines over there.

Drove over to Mantua on Sunday. The open water area looks bigger! The wind was blowing hard and thought it smart to wait. So I didnt put in.[
] Did go to Willard and launched at the N. Marina. Wind was blowing at 11:00 AM so I stayed in the harbor. Not much going on there. My chub was not harmed nor was the jig I was throwing.
Stayed till 4:00 PM count zero.[:p]
Hope thats the only skunk I get this year...

What time did you drive by? It was pretty crazy, I drove by at just after noon and it was still half iced, but as I was coming home at dusk it looked to be all open, maybe a little slush. It must be wide open after today.

Fished it for about an hour today...water temp was 43*. Caught one trout out from the inlet. Once it warms a little...I will be back.

Yep, I to went there and fished the same day. The water looks great but the Bass are still sleeping and the trout were scattered. Only caught one as well.
Warm weather should solve this. Wish we had some...[frown]
