A few friends from Pennsylvania came down for a weekend visit on the Big G. The weather did not cooperate to say the least emoRain but we still managed to have a good time and caught some nice ones! Yesterday seemed slow until the clouds rolled in. We could not really find a good trap bite in the shallows. So we moved out thinking the cold spell put them deeper and it was the right thing for us to do for quality fish. We ended the day yesterday with probably 20 (and probably that many stripe) but the interesting thing was we had a 20# bag with a 7.2 kicker. The big girl was shallow (1.5 ft.) but real close to deep water when I hooked her and turned the helm over to young Ben! His personal best, wll sort of!! We want tell! Today, was a different story and all though I fished the same pattern we could not stay on them for dodging lightning strikes! We would get on a good spot and then have to run to shelter. I was able to bag another good 7 + that was full of eggs but showed no signs of stress. Got her on a spinnerbait, and missed one other good one also. They just seemed that they wanted to mouth it but not in a feeding mode. emoFish We had 5 other shorts and then the rains came in and boy do I mean buckets. After 12 hours on the water yesterday the guys said they had gotten enough so we headed back to the boat ramp-circus at mud creek where it took us 30 minutes to get out. emoPlease Anyway, we caught most of our fish in 2-8ft. on rattle baits, spinnerbaits, and plastics. Water temps were from 58- 63 F.

Leaving next weekend for a striper excursion on the Cheseapeake Bay. Will try to post from there. Hate to miss out on all the action here but the big bruisers are calling!!! You all can handle it...

Go Fish!

-theweekender emoAngler
