Anyone been down there after cats yet? Looking at going down Thursday night.

48 degress about 2 weeks ago. That's the best I can tell you.

I have been fishing the river 2-3 times a week for smallmouth bass. Today was the first day I have noted water temps rising. My surface temp read 47-48 today. It was also the first time I have found the fish to be aggressive. I assume that fishing for catfish has also improved and that they are becoming more aggressive.

My catch this afternoon was 4 smallmouth, all right at 15", and all took moving baits. Tomorrow should be even better.

if you don't mind me asking, and not to jack the thread but we went down there monday and didn't catch a thing, i did see a guy catch a four to five foot sturgeon right below the damn. But were do you usually catch bass at out there?

Well, I jump in my bass boat above the dam and run 5 to 6 miles up and fish points on the left side where the water breaks over them. Usually catch 2 to 4 lbers in that area.

i wish we had aboat but i'm stuck to fishing off the shore, we tried right above the damn, and below it but then the rain started to come in so we left.

I have had decent luck walking across the dam and fishing below.

for bass from shore go to the boat ramp above the dam. if there isn't too much boat traffic you can usually pick up a fish or two hiding under the dock. and can ussualy pick up a half dozen or so fishing on either side of the dock. then walk accross the dam and fish the west bank walk as far upstream as you wish. you will get a fish or two. below the dam was hot years ago before the work was done. however it may be getting better a fellow from this forum posted a pick of a nice fat one a week or so ago. as for lures. crawdad cranks, anything fineese drug on the bottom

ME and my dad are headed up there tomorrow. Anyone know of a sturgeon hole we can hit on the upper part. we are taking his boat and are going to do a little bass fishing. I usually just fish swan falls in the fall becuase bass fishing is so good. what colors should i use for spring fishing.. Every catch any crappie on the upper part. Just as an FYI for anybody who has never had a boat in swan falls. All the times I've been there you have to be very careful. There are lots of very large rocks, just inches under the water, even at quite a distance from shore. In 4 fishing trips with a buddies 12 foot aluminum with a 5hp outboard, er lost 5 shearpins due to prop contact with rocks. We were slow tolling 30 use or more from shore.. the boat scraped rocks multiple times.. its worse than parts of CJ strike

Back then most of our fishing was lucky peak, paddock, lake lowell, so the little aluminum was fine. Even CJ strike has areas where a boater

needs to watch what is just under the surface
I've never damaged my 15 yr old seaswirl, but I remembered lessons I learned from other peoples mistakes of not learning the body of water, before putting around on it..

years ago my brother in law ran up on a rock at strike in front of a boat ramp somewhere. I have no clue where that is now. I was there only once and that was a LONG time ago. Ron
