I have an older Buck's Bag pontoon and I'm thinking about getting a new one. My old toon doesn't have the rear plate for a motor or anchor, so I think I would like to have that on the new one. I just got a new fish finder to mount on a toon as well. Any recommendations on purchasing a new one? What brand/model/stores are good? I mostly fish lakes, but I may want to float the green or other area rivers occasionally. I was also wondering if anyone has any pics of how to mount a transducer on a pontoon?
Thanks,
Justin

I will answer for myself. Three boats I would even consider is NFO, Bucks, Outcast.
I would look for Urethane bladder at the least, which doesn't mean ALL Bucks or Outcast as some are Vinyl.
I prefer Aluminum frame but stainless steel second choice, rust resistance.
Now that I have that out of the way, I own two pontoons. One with a frame the other without.
Sonar on the frame model is as follows

I like the design of being able to take the ducer on and off. I just bought an older used scadden Montana and think I might have to try and jimmy some stuff up. Does that back rack rub weird sitting on top of the bladders?

No, but if you are worried about it, you can put like a cut up rubber inner tube between. I put the soft side of 2" wide velcro on the bottom of my deck, but only because MY boat is yellow and shows dirt and smudges like crazy.
But no wear. Even from Hubbys 5 hp motor on his.

Lots of choices to choose from. When choosing a new toon it is primarily ones own choice, but look at how much weight you are going to put on it. Include, yourself, bait, rods and reels, motor, battery, and anything else. Then go from there. Here are some pics of my toons with the motors and fishfinders on it.[cool]
I used the greatest of all materials, PVC!

Oh and a good idea to go with one that is still "made" [

But I agree, get the best bang for the buck. Pontoons are more money, so get one that will last...it will pay for its self over time.

How are the Sportsman's Warehouse Buck's Bags models?

Like I said, Bucks are awesome boats and still USA made which is great to me.
The Bucks Southfork has a long proven history of being a quality boat. The Sportsman model seems to be the same, but with Vinyl bladders and about $130. saving.
I would go with the Southfork, but Buck's does put out quality equipment and I would be afraid of the Sportsmans quality.

I have the Sportsmans Warehouse version of this pontoon boat for sale. Excellent condition. PM me if you are interested.
