Well I didn't make it out last week because of the weather, so I am going to go this Friday, probably to the middle Provo. I don't know what it is, but I really struggle on the middle Provo. I have lots of success everywhere else. It has become my nemesis. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody has any tips for that area?

Try every color in your box in rapid succession. I mean change flies every five to ten minutes up there. Start with thread midges then disco. Watch for BWOs flying around. If you see them try GRHE too. Stay size 18 and below, way below like all the way down to 22.
In short, don't stay in one place or with one color very long.

My suggestion for the middle is BWO cripples with a #22 Gray bead head WD40 about 16" off the cripple.

The middle is one of those rivers I like to throw streamer patterns. Dark buggers and sculpins. You get in those good holes and the bigger fish always seem to hold, even during a hatch. So take a big meal to them.
of course, drifting a bigger fly the whole time is not totally reasonable there, but, keep that thought in the back of your head when you are ready to bang it against a rock because you're being outsmarted by little fish.....

Had an interesting day Friday. Got to the Provo about 1pm. It was shoulder to shoulder fishing, so we decided to go see what the Weber looked like. Bad idea. Maybe good for river rafting, but not for fishing. So back to Provo we went. Crowds died down, but the water levels on the Provo were higher than usual also. Ended up with about 5 fish, mostly on San Juan worm because of the higher levels. But got a couple on looped wing emerger. Had a good time but can't wait for flows to get back to normal.
