Me my dad and a buddy went out to mud lake in my new boat launched off of the provo airport dike on a locked ramp 3 feet deep was just enough to launch mortor around the swamp like area found a nice bunch of good looking bullrushes to fish nothing my dad missed one we moved and tried another spot my buddy found a little hole just 10 feet from the front of the boat he used worms with no weight or bobber. He caught 3 channels and one mud. I caught one small channel that was smaller than the others. We tried lots of spots nothing was willing to play but 8 hrs on the lake and a total of 5 cats. Great day

Spare me some research, is mud lake south of the airport? I've never fished that area of the lake but I've wanted to check it out. Any landmarks to point out where it is?

It is south of the Provo Airport... It is the large bay (also called Provo Bay). If you launch at Provo Harbor, head south, you can't miss the large bay to the east. I have duck hunted there many times, but not fished it (it is quite shallow). I may have to give the old hook and line a try out there.
Good Luck, and hope it helps.

Yes it is shallow its only 4 feet deep in the middle but it warms up faster than the main lake so the catfishing is good early
