Fished the Malad area a couple days ago and had a great time. Caught 20 trout in a couple hours throwing a spinner. Caugth my limit in about 5 minutes. Lost probably another 20 fish. Here is a little update on the ice in the area.

Crowthers- 100% thawed out
Devils Creek- Edges are thawed about 7-10 feet out...probably more by now

Deep Creek- Edges thawed out a lot and easily fishable
Weston- Still pretty frozen, edeges thawed out a couple of feet.

Thanks for the report, I've been wondering about those waters. Sounds like I'll be able to take my tube out again soon.

My son in-law and I are coming up this sunday to fish Deep Creek. How is Daniels? Has the edges started to thaw? Thanks for the info.

Where does one fish the Malad? Above the gorge or below?
Thanks

Welcome to BFT. He was fishing the reservoirs in the area. I don't know anything about the river.

CHECK THE REGS BUT i BELIEVE THIS TIME OF YEAR IT IS ONLY OPEN FROM THE I84 BRIDGE DOWNSTREAM TO THE MOUTH AT THE CONFLUENCE OF THE SNAKE RIVER

Thanks for the info. I should have noticed that the report wasn't about the Malad River itself.
From the interstate upstream it's general rules, from the gorge down it's catch and release only at this time.
I wonder if the river is fishing well right now.
I may just go to Bruneau Dunes and try fly fishing for bass Sunday

Try going to CJ and fly fish for crappie, been doing it for a couple years now and using a dropper fly have caught 2 at a time numerous times- it's a hoot

Thanks for the tip 2dogs, I was actually thinking of trying CJ Strike.
I have never fished there before. Would the Bruneau Arm area be the best to try for fly fishing?
