Set the hook and listen to the "reel" music. That's what happened to Dr Phil and me this morning. We didn't catch very many fish, but the ones that we did catch more than made up for it with size.

We hooked up 3 Smallmouth Bass and landed 2 of them, including Dr Phil's personal best at 4 lb 10 oz. Beautiful fish. The one that I landed was only about 2.5 lbs. I lost a bigger one that I guessed in the neighborhood of 3.5 to 4.0 lbs. It came completely out of the water and pulled off after a 30 second fight.

I also landed a good sized yellow bass and I can't go fishing without catching a drum. An 11 lb drum that fooled me for a few minutes. I thought that it was a striper. Funny thing, I caught my 15.25 lb striper just before I caught the drum and after the initial run, I thought that the striper was a drum. Fought just like a drum, except it took me 15 minutes to subdue the beast. We had to chase it with the big motor.

There I wuz, caught 4 fish and all different species and all Dr Phil had caught was a big scale. I teased him a little bit and that was the wrong thing to do. He then had to catch the PB smallmouth for him, and followed that up with a 37" striper that weighed 21 lbs. We both over estimated the weighs of the fish. Both Stripers were males and messed up the bottom of my boat and one of my livewells. They must have thought that females were near as both lost it in the boat. I hosed down the boat and left it out in the sun to dry. Hope that it isn't too back for cuonthelake tomorrow.

We saw Sam Simons up there with his new ride. Nice looking boat, Sam. You guys left too early. I was about to give up when I caught the first Striper about 9:00 AM. There isn't a lot of fish up there yet, but it should improve shortly. Everybody needs to be crappie fishing. They are going on the beds.

Tackle today were 6'6" rods with 1/8 oz jigheads with flukes glued on. The fish are feeding on 3" threadfin shad. Water temp was 55.2 degrees and water flow in the 20,000 cfs range. 6 lb test Trilene fluorocarbon line. Good stuff. I see what MrWiskers likes this line. I am fond of it too. I just wish that it came in hi-vis yellow so I could see it. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
