With the wonderful weather that we have been having. I just couldn't get in the mood to go fly fishing. So I packed up my ice fishing stuff one more time and headed to PaliSades.

I wanted to try out a new Jason Mitchell "Meat Stick" rod that I got from Cabelas year end sale. It is meant for perch and kokanee so I went to the area where I usually get into the Kokes.

I didn't get up early I probably should have when I arived I caught 3 fish right away and then it died.

The first fish was the most exciting. It was a 23" brown, and a fat one at that. It hit my koke pole really hard and my drag was singing. I mananged to get him in on that little pole then I released him so I can catch him again when he is 27". I caught him on a little rat finkie.

THen I caught a 12" cutt and a 10" Koke. Then it died and I went home around noon. All in all it was great way to say goodbye to the ice for the year.

Sorry no pics. I forgot my camera at home and my cell phone in my truck.

That's crazy you still found good ice! [crazy] You are much more brave than I am. Still, now that you got your last ice trip in, maybe the warmer weather can come for good. [Wink]

The ice was fine and still almost auger deep in the Big Elk bay. Conditions can change very fast.

There was about a two foot gap between the bank and ice. There was about 6" of slush on top. It really was pretty solid still, but like I said that can change fast. I almost tried the main lake, but my gut feeling told me not to try it.

I know I said it before (maybe about a month ago) but I am really done ice fishing for the year. Going to store my stuff tomorrow.

MMDon- I don't consider myself brave. Maybe stupid, but I checked everything out real careful and then took a calculated risk.
