Took my wife and almost 2 year old son out to Strike today. There is nothing better than getting the family out together! It was pretty windy today and we could not get a bite crappie fishing. After trying for a little while below the dam my son kept asking to get in the boat so we decided to launch. Launched on the river and tried drifting worms for a while with no luck, the wind got pretty bad so we decided to beach and throw the sturgeon rods out for a bit. Tossed a worm and power bait out to and after a few minutes caught a pretty nice trout. About 30 minutes later we had a sturgeon on and Beth got to catch her first one and she did great. Moved down river a bit and beached at a nice gravel spot out of the wind and stayed there for the rest of the day without catching any more fish. Jerk chicken sandwich and Blacksands and then headed home. Hopefully the we'll catch a few more fish next weekend but again, can't have a better day than getting my wife and son on their first sturgeon.

Still trying to talk my wife into her first sturgeon. She's hooked a couple catfishing but she doesn't want anything to do with one on the sturgeon rod.

I hear that, the key for me was using the smaller rods from the boat. She had fought one on the bank on the 12 foot rod before and didn't really like it. The short rods in the boat are way easier on the muscles and more fun over all too. She loved this one (which is awesome cause now I can go more)
