This week, the American Fly Fishing Trade Association will once again be bringing its signature fishing events to the nation's capital. The Jim Range National Casting Call will be held on Friday April 15 at Fletcher's Cove on the C&O Canal National Historical Park. Partnering with a number of fishing and conservation groups, the event is designed to get members of Congress, congressional staff and agency officials out on the Potomac River to fly fish during the height of the shad run. Then, on Saturday April 16, the Family & Youth Casting Call provides DC-area children and their families to fish on the C&O Canal that is netted and stocked with freshwater fish for the occasion. This year's family event is a Let's Move Outside official event to promote healthy, active lifestyles in children and stewardship of our public lands and waters.
