Went out fishing today at Hole 33 at around 4pm. Set up my spinning rod with a float and some corn for some carp action. The other rod I started with a U-tail plastic worm and later switched to a Berkley 4" shad swimbait in search of some largemouths. Got a hit on that and landed the striper, about a pound in weight. As I'm taking a picture of the striper and releasing it, my girlfriend says "there's something wrong with your pole" and points at the spinning rod. The bobber is gone. A rush over but I think the carp burrowed itself in the weeds and my line got snagged. Ended up having to break the line. Called it a day at around 6pm since the sun was setting.

Thanks guys. It's been tough. I've been out there probably 6-7 times and been skunked every single time. Sucks even more that gas is so damn pricey right now and I live by Red Rock. But catching that striper was well worth it. First time catching a fish on a lure and also popped the cherry on my new baitcaster. I'll be back out Sunday or Monday for some more fishing.

Sigh. I remember those good old days when I caught 10+ good sized stripers at the hole.
