I am itching to get out on Utah lake and catch some catfish this weekend. I was thinking about getting the boat out if the weather is good or maybe just tube around in Provo bay. Has anyone had any luck for cats on Utah lake this year? I would like to stick around the Utah lake state park or provo bay area if I can, but I will go to where the fish are biting. (If they are biting []) Also, if anyone is having luck, are you fishing for the cats out deep or are they in the shallows by the reeds? I usually fish the shallows all summer and did quite well last year. I don't usually try for cats this early, but like I said, I have the catfish itch. I just don't know where the cats will be this time of year. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate the help.

We caught 5 Channels last friday in provo bay but this was a all day event to catch them. one spot we caught all 5 shallow in the reeds no weight small hook no bobber. 4 was caught this way and 1 was caught with a bobber. hope this helps i will be out looking for the whiskers

Thanks for the response! This does help, at least I know that someone is catching cats out of provo bay. I had my best luck last summer in provo bay by pulling into the mouth of a reed-cove and casting back into the cove. Hopefully this method will work for me this weekend.
