Went down to check out Mantua this afternoon. Was only there for just over an hour. My intent wasn't really to catch fish, just to relax. The end of the semester is upon me, and I just needed to get out and think about nothing, and that's what I did. It was a little breezy. The inlet was nice and muddy. Paddled the pontoon out about 30-40 yards north of the inlet and finally got away from the muddy water. Didn't catch anything, but then again I didn't really try too hard. I just enjoyed being out! Water was choppy the whole time too.

So does anyone know what they are doing at the inlet? Looks to me as if they are going to be putting a launch in down there somewhere. They had a dock sitting down there - brand new. And a floating walkway. It would be nice if that is what they are doing.

Abouts what time were you there? My father and I were then in the Lund trolling then flippiin the flys? I saw a few toons out.

I was there around 5:30ish to 6:30ish. I was in a green pontoon just dinking around in the southeast part. Was that you off the point in the midst of the three float tubers?

So did you see any signs of bass/bluegills staging in the shallows? Thinking it's a bit early for them, with all the cold weather still.

Was reading the stocking report - and seems the same 10.68 Rainbows that got planted into Skyler's also made it into Mantua (though Mantua got a 'few' more - 6000+).
If it's anything like the last two days I had - anything shiny/flashy - and they are chasing it.

Got on a LOT of tugs. But I do want to get out for a float.
I heard they are building a small boat launch for toons or small boats. They put one on the north east side too.

How do you get to the one in the northeast side? Never turned left and headed up that way. I have just always headed down to the main ram IR inlet.

head north from the main launch and you can take a dirt road around the lake. its kind of up by where the shooting range is.

Thanks!

So are these other launches including ramps? Or is it primarily for the canoe/tube - floaters? Walkins - not trailers?

Mine's a 12' flatbottom, so I could portage the darn thing (with help), but not the way it gets loaded with gear!! But even a good gravel pitch can do it.

I'm sure you've seen TDs map, but someone else posted one when we talked about ice and springs. I think that's when I realized how far the roads extend. I know where we parked for ice fishing on the South end - that road goes to the end. Seen some folks go all the way down to turn around.

So can anyone mark where these new access points are going in? Or is it basically where the parking is? Sounds good either way.
Wonder where they plant the fish from? Anyone know?
