Does anyone know when They start charging to launch at pineview? ?

Last year I think it was the week of Memorial day, maybe the week before. We were there two weeks before and they were there setting up and said they would start charging the next week. Who knows when they start from year to year but I think you are safe the rest of this month and part of next month.

[#800000]My next door neighbor works there and he has been instructed to report for work beginning the 2nd of May. They will begin collecting fees to launch on the 6th of May.[/#800000]

Well that is too bad, seems like another jab at us fishermen because there are few water skiers that time of the year. Thanks for the info Bob, looks like I've got less than two weeks to get up there[crazy].

What is the charge there? Is it at all launches?

Is all the ice off yet? Last report I heard - thought there was still ice in the bays. Seems like it gonna be a muddy spring.
I agree with you on that !!! Sure seems like the fishermen an women get the short end of the stick on that deal ... I enjoy fishing the View for all species but can hardly stand the REC folks and their B.S they continually get away with !! Fisherman come 2nd and that pond in my opinion.. Ive called the Marine Patrol on 100s of idiots only to get very few responses .. I will only fish it early spring and late fall and the harddeck because of this..I also heard that the daily fees are goin to increase as well as the yearly anyone else hearing of this crap ???

Not sure if you remember because they only inforced it for a month or so, but the road going into Cemetery point had a $3.00 toll due to road improvement issues between American campgrounds and Huntsville. Since that time they have dropped the toll but increased the entry fee by $1.00 to cover some of the costs to the city for the use of the public roads. It would seem that if theirs money to be made everyone and there dog has a hand out.

I don’t know who you mean by “REC folks”, but my neighbor and his wife work the Port Ramp and are two of the nicest, friendliest folks you’re likely to meet anywhere. They will absolutely go out of their way to make your visit there a pleasant one. They also have absolutely NOTHING to do or say about the rules and fees set for that facility. That is all set by their employer, American Land & Leisure (AL&L) which is headquartered in Orem, UT. AL&L operates under a federal contract with the US Forrest Service to manage over 400 facilities nationwide. If you have a beef with anybody, it SHOULD be with American Land & Leisure, not the staff at your local facility. You can contact AL&L through their website:[/#800000] http://www.americanll.com/.

I fished pineveiw alot last year with only a couple incidents with recreators, I mainly fished it on thursdays and fridays though which may have helped, the biggest issue i had last year there was with a group of people that decided they needed to swim where i was fishing. The only reservoir that I will not fish during the heat of the summer months is willard as that place has always bothered me as far as recreators goes. I just take it as a given you will have to deal with jerks every where you go whether in you car or on the water it comes with the territory.

Here's what you said: " but can hardly stand the REC folks and their B.S." I specifically said I didn't know WHO you meant by 'REC folks.' A generic statement that talks about 'REC folks' COULD be talking about anybody from the US Forrest Service, to AL&L, to AL&L staff, or, as you just said, to the MARINE PATROL. There was absolutely no way to know.[/#800000]

[#800000]I can only respond to what you write. Your intent and/or meaning were NOT clear in this instance. There was no clear connection between your 'REC folks' in one sentence and 'marine patrol' two sentences later in your original post. If you meant 'marine patrol' and 'REC folks' were one in the same, then you should have used 'marine patrol' in both references. Had you done so, I would not have responded at all to your post in defense of the Port Ramp staff on duty, including my neighbor and his wife.[/#800000]

[#800000]You can agree, or not, with my analysis. It will bother me not. And I'm for sure not going to lose any sleep over it. Now go catch some fish and lower your stress level.[/#800000]

For whatever it's worth, the first Rv of the season appeared today at the Port Ramp. It won't be long now before they start charging to launch. Also noticed that AIS questionaires are on site at the prep to launch area. Don't you dare bring mussels here!
