All the wind and cold mornings we've been having didn't help the bass fishing much. I fished the lake this afternoon and found water temp had dropped to 47 at the Access 1 ramp. It got up to 49 by 2:00 on some of the flats. I got my first fish at 2:30 and then another at 3:00. Both were 14". The water temp was steadily rising. At 4:00 I landed a nice 18" fish that probably was around 3 pounds or maybe a bit more, as it was fat. By then the temps were up to 55. Two bass boats pulled in to join me at 5:00, so I went home for supper. I think it will be pretty good this weekend with steadily rising temperatures. Just so long as we're not getting down into the 20's overnight.

I don't mean to imply that the fishing is great, and it certainly isn't east. Lake Lowell is a very tough lake. I fished a couple of hours this afternoon (Sat) and got skunked. However, it was a good lesson. I was reminded why I don't fish LL on weekends. At one point there were 4 bass boats within a couple of hundred yards of where I was fishing. I am not a social fisherman, so I gave it up and came home. Luckily "home" is 3.5 miles from the ramp.

The bass at LL probably see more bass gear in one season then most people will ever try fishing with in there lives. still tho there are some things you can do to greatly increase your chances. fish have more then one sense and i think that people forget that alot of the time. that said enough about bass and anyone that is headed to LL should pack some big lazer sharp trebble hooks go out to the middle and snag some huge carp on a 8LB crappie pole. Now that is what LL is for if you want line ripping action.

Well done SmartWeed.... you did much better than we did. My 12 year old son and I went out for about 5 hours on Saturday - we were fishing along with "Forgiven" and his wife - they in their boat and us in ours. The water was still really cold - high 40s mostly it seemed. We couldn't find many fish on the finder and when we did, we couldn't get bit. Thats twice now we have came home skunked on LL.
