I went and Fish Henry's below chester all morning. It was a beautiful day, a little cold at 7 AM. I didn't have much luck. I caught one fish- 12" brown on a pot-o-gold spoon. I have not fished the Henry's much and would like to fish it more. If anyone has any pointers or preferred lures, or fishing spots that they want to share, it would be appreciated. P.M. are more than welcome.

just my opinion and experience. get your self a fly rod and learn to use it if you dont already know how. i consistently catch more fish on the henrys fork and the south fork of the snake with a fly rod then any other way.especially this time of year running nymphs about 10 feet off the bank and behind structure. if you insist on using spinning gear i would throw a number 9 sinking countdown rapala in the brown trout color or the brook trout color i have hit quite a few big browns on the henry's with these rapalas. remember all else fails bounce a worm on the bottom. never fails.

Hey thanks for the pointers. I just barely got a fly rod for my birthday, I just need to get out there and try using it.

I will add my 2 cents (which is all its worth!)

Fishing on the fly rod is always a great option. Especially on the Henrys. There is nothing like whipping flies around and hearing the reel sing as you fight a big brown!

the big rainbows on the henrys are what do it for me. man they fight hard. they love a brown rubber leg with a beadhead prince nymph or a sanjaun worm dropper up there.

The big rainbows is why I want to fish the Henry's. I have heard they put up a great fight. I just hope to get into some soon.

Dont forget panther martins in a silver spoon yellow body and red dots also various combination of black . But fly rod is much funner

I had a bit of free time today so I took a drive out to the Henry's Fork to see what the conditions were like. It was very breezy but warm! For those of you interested, there was a pretty good caddis hatch around 3:00 but I didn't see any fish rising on them. It looks like it's supposed to be windy again tomorrow, but so I might try to get out there again on Wednesday or Thursday.

sweet caddis hatch today and quite a few fish up on them. I caught a couple and one nice one. Fished it all week and did great.

flyfishingfool, what time of day were you fishing? I ask because, like I said, I didn't see any fish keying in on caddis while I was out... What part of the Henry's Fork were you fishing?

I was at Fun Farm yesterday (Monday) in the morning and then up at Ashton in the afternoon...the hatches were insane in Ashton...poor pooch didn't know what was going on...oh and by the way...didn't touch a fish..nor did I ever see one.Threw every fly I had..I'll give it another try on my next set off.

hey flyfishingfool how was your guide school in island park? and one of these days i'll hit you up when i go fishing up the henry's and i'll take you along, you can show me a thing or two about flies.

I was fishing by vernon. Fish were keying in on the caddis like crazy. Unfortunately for me I didn't have any floatant so I had a hard time fishing it. I changed my fly a few times and finally found the right pattern. Really light wing and a dark (almost black) bottom. Missed a nice hit and caugth a dink. I got tired of switching flies so much to keep them dry that I switched to nymphing and landed a 17" bow. Man those fish are girthy and fight hard. Missed a few other hits as well. Overall not a bad day at all, just wished I had some floatant. The guide school was great. I would highly reccomend it to anyone. Worth every dollar. Helped me land a job and get my foot into the business. I'll be working up at premier fly fishing in ashton so come by and say hello if your in the neighborhood.
