tried fishing cutler yesterday for cats. Fishing was really slow all i caught were three mud cats.
Wind was blowing really hard and it was cloudy and cold. The water is really low with a strong under current. It was hard to keep the bait on bottom without drifting.
Beware of the boat launch there is a big drop off not very far out, we went over it and couldnt get the truck back up the hill even in 4wd. We did finally manage but what a pain. Water in a lot of spots was only a foot or two deep, got the boat moter in the mud quite a few times. Fishing sucked but it was good to get out of the house.

If its not raining the wind is blowing like hell, the weather needs to get better soon! Im aching for good fishing

No kidding about the weather.

Did you put in at Benson Marina?

Yeah - nother blanket of snow on the mnts. Uh - yay.
Lets get out the skis and ice augers....

Drove around Benson/Cutler enough to see - things are danged flooded and that river's serious swollen!
Good thing I got me a gas motor now, long as I can get it to fire.

I launched Benson a week back or so - didn't have any problem with the ramp, but didn't back too far in...?? Heard Newton is looking pretty full.

I really need to float something soon - wish I could catch a warm day for some cutler kitties! And those danged bass, bluegills are NEVER gonna move up and spawn at this rate! I wouldn't've minded more wind at Mantua yesterday - blow the damned bugs away!
I have driven out there a couple times too. Haven't fished any in a while though. Wont be around here after May 23. Got an internship with the U.S. Forest Service in Vernal, so I will be testing my luck on Pelican most of the summer. Plus got me a new fishing friend.

its not the boat launch at the marina, its the one between cache junction and newton.

So, I heard you parted with your super-decked out toon. Didn't know it was just a shift... is that like a 10fter? So no trailer - just pop it in the back of your truck right? So you'll be able to use those new launches at Mantua.
I know someone who's got a trolling motor for ya. And I just got me a new (used) gas motor. Need to try firing it up!

Better get that pup onto Newton before the powersquad comes out to play. Give us a warmer day - and I'll meet ya out there! Sounds like the waters up.

We have some friends in Vernal. Internship sounds fun. Is that just for the summer? Least there's still fishn! Probably more I'll bet. [fishin][fishin][fishin][fishin]

Wormsinker: Haven't launched there this year yet. Didn't have a problem last fall, but I think I've seen the trailer drop. Maybe it's gotten worse. Heavy current this year. Sorry ya got stuck - that always sux - hope you still got to fish! [cool]
Those boats are GREAT! Light and stable.
Except in big winds. Careful when the waves come up! Friends lost theirs on Willard last year.
Enjoy Pelican. Great Lake!

Yes they are. I grew up fishing out of one of those things. My dad still has it. Trees have fallen on it on multipe occasions. Still works like a charm! Now I have one for my family. Can finally take the kids every now and then.

Yeah, had to part with the pontoon. It wasn't intended to be a shift, at least not this soon. But I love these Crawdads. Super lightweight and nearly indestructible. I watched two get sold. I found this one, and luckily I have an internship lined up, so I was able to make it happen for me.

12-footer. I will get a little gas motor for it, but that will take a month or two. I was hoping to get out today, but stink - it's snowing again! Maybe later this afternoon. Gotta work on a paper and do some studying for finals in the mean time. But all that is done on Thursday. Can't wait for that.

I'm with Todd - watch for waves and wakeboarders. I swear some of them get a thrill out of watching a little boat rockin on the waves.

But - if you get a chance you should definitely go float cutler. Been trying to convince my Mrs that she'd enjoy the calm, the scenery, and all the wildlife. Just being in the middle of the marsh surrounded by all them birds a chirping, singing, and squawking...

it's especially cool heading south from Benson - under the two bridges, and then off to the marsh north of the ValleyView. But it also gets danged shallow in spots! And I've found my GPS real helpful out there! It's easy to get turned around - "hey I've seen those reeds before!"

So - just oars for now then?
Weather's looking up a bit - at least snow stopped, and the suns creeping out. Think I need to go play with my motor.
Yeah, I think I am heading out this afternoon too.
