Does anyone know how the fishing (especially for stripers) has been in the Wahweap area on Lake Powell? I'll be heading down there this coming week and would like to know what to expect and if possible how to get the fish. I'm interested in both boat and shore fishing.
Thanks. I've already seen the report on that link, but I appreciate your response. I was looking for some firsthand accounts from people who actually fished out of or at Wahweap in the past week or so to get a more specific idea of what the conditions are and how the fishing is in the immediate area.

I’m headed to Bullfrog this week and I’ve been looking at all the reports I can. Wahweap has had a lot better reports about catching stripers from what I’ve heard and there is a BASS tourney at bullfrog this week[mad] so Wahweap might be a better choice.

I just got back from Wahweap. Did pretty well at the dam. We also fished buoy 3 twice and did OK, but the first time we fished there the wind picked up so bad that even with the motor running we couldn't hold position long enough to drop our lines in, and the second time we fished there the boat traffic (especially the tour boats) created so many waves that it was like being in a storm. Also went up Antelope Canyon for a little ways and didn't see any fish on the finder so we really didn't even fish it. We talked to some guys with a huge stringer of fish, and they said they did really well in Navajo Canyon, so that may be the place to try next time. Also talked to some guys who did well fishing from one of the boat ramp docks of all places.
One disappointment was that the fish are so malnourished that they've become emaciated. Most of the stripers are so starved that their backs have caved in and lost most of their meat, in some cases so much that we couldn't even fillet them and had to just throw the fish away. It's

. Hopefully they'll manage to find some food this summer and get back to their normal weight.
