was fishing the river below strike yesterday and saw two huge bouys bobbing in the river unattended. Does anyone know anything about that? My thought was maybe they are marking F&G set lines....? anyone know?

We once saw the F&G setting buoys on the stretch below the King Hill Bridge. I was sure they were set lines, but I know some times they take water quality and acoustic data. Don't ask me what they wand acoustic data for... whales i guess.

Gibbons and I saw them last time we were out. I think it'd be funny to put a note on them and say, "Dear sportsman, it is illegal in the state of Idaho to use set lines." I'm pretty sure its F&G, the boat that we saw pulling them up had a big ol' boom on them in case they had a fish on it.

Those are Idaho Power sturgeon study set lines. They have been sampling fish all up and down the Snake for several ears now. Those guys are a font of information, but please give them room to work, and stay away from the buoys while boating.
