I watched this on Sunday on Idaho public television and thought it was pretty interesting. Hope some of you enjoy it.

Definitely worth a watch. I'd definitely like to see numbers go up, someday I'd like to get out there and fish for salmon, and I'd like my kids to have the opportunity too.
The video seemed to make a majority of the dams out to be pretty non-important, just how important are they? I try to be a pretty logical individual, and I can't help but think they're leaving something out out of the picture here.

This is a great film that anybody who loves salmon would enjoy plus it focuses on the issues specifically facing Idaho. I love the opening scene where one of the few returning sockeye who has traveled 900 miles past all of the obstacles gets netted and put into the system. I felt sorry for the poor guy.
There will be reruns of this film on the Nature Series on PBS that you can record.

makes me hate idaho power even more. i have no respect for them or anyone who works for them.

I'm not trying to defend Idaho power but most of the dams shown in this video were built by the federal government. I think this film just shows how we humans typically do things. We get an idea in our head and just go for it without caring about the consequences. Then when the damage is already done we spend all our time and money trying to fix our screw up.

But yet you don't hessitate to use the power they produce?
Your comment is juvenile and hypocritical.

I don't think you can really single out Idaho Power for blame.
Not like they didn't do the exact same thing with many of the other dams on the Columbia River system. Grand Coulee, anyone?
Also, the feds (or one of the wildlife agencies on either side of the river) need to start shooting those sea lions below Bonneville Dam with real bullets instead of rubber ones. Sure, at one point sea lions were endangered, but they do NOT need protection anymore. I'd support putting a bullet in any damn sea lion that dared stick its nose up the Columbia.
I hate those fish stealing bastards.

Every person i have ever met from idaho power is stuck up and rude. I sold a dog to a guy that worked at idaho power at 8 weeks old he let that dog chase a duck into the snake river in december and lost the dog. The edges of the river where covered in ice. The puppy had no business being out there. Lack of intelligence and ignorance killed that dog. Yes i use the power but they still do not try to make up for what they have done to the salmon.pure ignorance But we can all go green and not let the monopoly take our money. Even tho if we do not use the power it will be sold to another state for more then we pay. which is why we pay so much for power even tho if you call them and ask it is always about snow pack. But the truth is out there. o well best thing you can do is move out of idaho and clame your a resident so you don't have to buy a out of state tag becuase damn that is spendy to.

Its not idaho powers fault for the dams thats a fact. The federal gov. was in charge of it. Lets imagine that the lower snake river was without the 4 lower dams. In all reality dam removal has worked on other rivers and it will work here as well. The Snake river between ontario and Twin falls would not really help salmon if they could spawn here because of how much pollution is in the river plus the water gets to warm because of the dams. Also the bass and other predatory fish would wipe out the smolt.
It is very easy to blame other things cause the fish are not rebounding. The biggest thing that has occurred in the US is that enviros want us to manage only certian animals and not other animals that influence those animals. Wolves are a perfect example. I like that wolves were brought back to idaho, but we must manage them. There are to many right now and big games herds are paying for it. Sealions there are plenty right now and the fish are hurting for it, but if there were plenty of fish would you care if there were sealions. probably not. If they would get serious and take the dams out of the lower snake river the fish would have a chance to rebound and the sealions might steal fish but if there are plenty who would care. I feel that the sealions shouldnt be at bonn dam but until the ESA policy changes then this will be the same ol' tune. Remove the dams boys and we will have plenty of NATIVE fish not hatchery. We just keep wasting money and it isnt helping much.
Just my 2 cents.
Hunting and fishing is my life and I want these fish to be around for my kids.
