Fished the Henry's fork again today on my way home from work and did alright. Tons of caddis coming off but not too many fish keying in on them. Managed a couple decent fish on a rubber legs.

I fished the Henry's Fork for a bit this morning. It was pretty slow going. The water was pretty murky and higher.Caddis were coming off, but not in huge numbers like I've heard they have been. I didn't see any fish rising on them, though. I was able to get a 15" brown and rainbow to take a yellow/brown woolly bugger. Couldn't have asked for better weather. What seems to be the best approach this time of year for landing trout? Throwing dries to the occasional risers? Streamers? Nymphing?

When the fish are up on the bugs it can be a blast getting them on top, as long as you can figure out the right pattern to use. But thats part of the fun isn't it? Streamers seem to work well on the cloudy days when the fish aren't doing much. I like throwing rubber legs and dredging them on the bottom this time of year. The fish seem to love getting a big meal as it floats by. Simple fly that works great. Pretty soon the salmon flies will be coming off and that will be some great dry fly action but right now I am just nymphing unless I see something rising on the caddis. If they are rising I'll try to catch them on top. If the water will stabilize for a couple days they should be back to feeding on top and there could be some good dry action again.
