SCOTTSBORO, Ala. - The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Guntersville May 14 for the fourth of five stops in the Choo Choo Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

"With all the high water things are a little bit behind," said National Guard pro Jonathan Newton of Rogersville, Ala. "But the topwater bite should be good and the fish should be out on the ledges and river bars by then. Guys will be able to catch them on soft plastics, jigs and crankbaits.

"If we don't get any more rain and the water slows down it could affect the fishing some, but the fish will be grouped up and guys should be able to catch a few more numbers of fish," Newton added.

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Waterfront Tackle and Grill at Goose Pond located at 417 Ed Hembree Drive in Scottsboro, Ala. Takeoff is scheduled for 5:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Guntersville BFL tournament is being hosted by the Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing - the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
