Hi guys, this is my first post here. I recently moved to Utah and have always been a fan of fishing.

This weekend is going to be the last fun weekend for me before I start my new job on Monday and I was wondering if anyone has any good leads on excellent primitive/dispersed camping areas that have good fishing.

I don't want to be on a campground next to someones RV and I also don't want to pitch a tent in snow.

Anyone have any good spots withing 2 hours of Salt Lake City they would like to share?

Thanks in advance.

I like to catch the ones that swim in water Tongue

But seriously, anything really. I don't think I will be able to go fishing on this camping trip, I just want to find a nice primitive camp site that wont be snowy or soggy this weekend. I went do to the ranger station this afternoon and they told me to check out the stansbury mountains.

Thats usually a good bet you may find some ok camping around Morgan but Primitive is not really my deal but if you ever have the time the Gorge has some primitive spots always fun.[reply][/reply]

You could check out Millard County (Delta area). There are a couple res' there that can offer pretty good perch, bass, crappie, and kitties. There are also some walleye and northern's in there, but tend to be hard to get into. Both of which are within a 20 min drive from plenty of primitive camping. Gunnison Bend Res, and DMAD Res. At DMAD you can camp in the russian olives and tamaraks just about at waters edge. Delta lies 120 miles south/southwest of SLC.

Good luck! Hope you find a spot and have a wonderful wknd before getting back to the grind.

[#000000]Stansbury mountains are a good choice for camping and hiking. You can check out the Granstville reservoir for fishing. Rainbows and a few Browns.[/#000000]

Left hand fork of the Blacksmiths Fork River is an ideal place for what you are looking for. Newton fits the bill as well. Jordanelle does have "Primitive" camping, but tons of peeps as well. Horseshoe Springs has Great camping, but fishing and bugs can be a Problem. Same for Willard Bay and Locomotive Springs. Within 2 hours there are a TON of places, but a Ton of peeps as well. PM if you need some more specifics. I might even have a picture or 2.
