Hit Willard around 9 this morning, fished till 1. Had several hits with 4 fish on. 3 were Crappie one 20 inch eye. None were touched, but they all made it close enough to be identified. Lost every last one of them. I was just south of the north marina. The fishing was actually getting good but I had a social event to attend. I talked to 7 boats and 12 shore fisherman with no fish reported (if they did land anything they were not talking). Fish were between 3 to 7 feet of water. The fishing is definitely improving day to day. I did not graph any fish in the depth I was fishing, But the sidefinder was going nuts. GREAT weather. 70's air temp with the water temp 59 degrees in a spot or 2. We got to see a 15 second boil of something very tight to shore. I thought it could have been shad, but we saw 3-4 wipers come clean out of the water.

Really a fun day all in all. I consider it a skunk because not one of those fish would have been released if it had made it to the canoe. Lots of boats and getting close to combat conditions in the north marina.

I was there to, we caught one big Carp that was hooked by the fin... The carp were jumping everywhere.. We thought it was going to be hot and furious but we didn't catch one other fish..

I had a fish that was going to be huge was using almost all my strength to reel it in (14yrs old). Didn't fight but came in like a dead log... Thought I was snagged but I could real it in and it was pulling pole back down.. Its a shame the line broke(Spider Wire). Caught one the whole day it was pretty slow..

I was there this am too. The "15 sec. boil" you saw may have been carp. The carp were quite active today. They also may have been what you were marking on your side finder. That is just my guess.

The lost fish could have been a big pre spawn cat. I've had good success so far this year with them at night. They don't fight as hard as they should. But I caught mine before this weeks warm up.
Minewas heavy that's all I know.. I saw a glimpse of brown below and that's all... Oh well nice knowing there's a big heavy fish in there.

Reelfast his wife and I hit it also but did not go out until 5:30pm or so. We went over to the N/E corner and there must have been 50 people fishing on shore around the outlet. At least a couple of guys do good, as they carried off a nice stringer of wipers. I call what I saw this evening, Surface Action. It is not as constant as a boil but the wipers are chasing something on the surface thats for sure.
