Watch for some reports today and tomorrow. Last time I was out about a week ago the water was consistently right aroung 55 degrees at Lincoln Beach. I'm waiting for the water to hit the mid 60's so the cats will really come to life. We are close. Again, expect some current reports from the guys out today and Sat.
Catin' should be hot soon.

[cool][#0000ff]Game on!!!![/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Hit the Knolls this morning. Water temp at launch was only 53 but warmed quickly when the sun hit the water and the breeze died down. Got up to 64 by the time we left after 2.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Full report tomorrow. All four of us caught cats over 26 to 28" long...and all four of us caught at least 100 white bass...or could have if we wanted. They are right on the banks along the whole shoreline. I tried at least 20 different lures to try to find something they would not hit. Couldn't find anything they wouldn't eat.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But...the cats were still out in about 6-7' of water. If the water keeps warming they will be in the shoreline reeds and shallow coves for good.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Okay, okay. I put up the post...with pictures.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If ya want white bass they were all along the entire shoreline today...some places thicker than others. Best spots were where big rocks came down into the water or there was a lot of flooded brush. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]You can wade and cast parallel to the shoreline with jigs, spinners...or even flies. I was wishing I had a fairy wand today. Woulda been fun on a 3 weight.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The whities come very shallow but the larger ones seemed to hang a few feet deeper and a little further from shore. Almost every one we kept today were RIPE males. Still a lot of good fishing left.[/#0000ff]

Oh, I believe you caught the fish. However some of my most spectacular skunks have been the result of my trying to emulate too closely your success, or the success of another angler on this site by going the next day.
The result has nearly alway been, "You should have been here yesterday.."
But, I have to work by 1:00 pm sat, so a stringer of whities and a couple nice cats would be the extent of my ambition..

[cool][#0000ff]I guess you will just have to ride along in my hip pocket sometime. Big pocket. Big hips.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]As far as Saturday, the heat will still be on, and the fish should still be active. There is supposed to be some wind but what a lot of folks don't know is that wind is a turnon for white bass. Look for a north shoreline that the south winds are pounding and let er rip. White bass spawn in moving water...tributaries or wave washed rocky shorelines. They do not build nests. They just gather up and go for it.[/#0000ff]

I'm planning on hitting it tomorrow morning as well. Sure wish I would have gone down there today to meet the Tube's. [
]
Tomorrow will be "get to know the toon" day. Basic gear; one pole, a couple lures and some fat nightcrawlers. If the fish are hitting hard I might take my son Sunday to hit it from shore.

Water temp today 5-13-11 at Lincoln Beach was 68 degrees. The White Bass and cats were Ballistic. We caught close to 100 Whities. Kept 30 Whites and 2 kitties. One kitty was 25 1/2 the other 23. I could not keep the buggers off.

Awesome! I didnt have any way to check water temp so I cannot give any report on that. But went to Lindon Boat harbor and caught 4 good size kitties. All around 23 inches. Didnt have any luck with any white bass. What were you using to catch them? Caught two of the channels on worms and the other two on minnows. Only fished for about 1.45. and it was from the bank since I have not got my tube up and going yet. Cant wait to hit the lake u p again next week. Good luck!

Awesome! Good to hear it is really going. Didnt see yoru post before i added my quick reply late last night. I will have to just find where those whities are at. I have heard you cant really miss them even with a bare hook. But good to hear it was a successful outing. Got a Tube! and know just finding some waders and i will be in business. But if it gets warm enough fast enough haha i can go out wiht out the waders. Thanks for the report.

[cool][#0000ff]Good to read that you got into some kitties. Now you have to combine some good timing with good luck and be in the right place at the right time to get to play with the whities.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]My guess is that the spring fling thing will last at least a couple more weeks. Maybe longer with the upsy downsy weather.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Watch the reports and be ready to rumble whenever you can hit the water.[/#0000ff]
