Well me and the ole man are headed out here shortly, if you see a gray hair and a 30ish guy with a cheesie running around throwing flys say hello. Camera is loaded so should have a few pics today too. Looks like a gorgeous day to be fishing!

my goodness, i was out there overnight with my wife and kid, we fished this morning and she caught a lot on worms, but i couldn't for the world seem to hook up with a fly. i was only trying different variations of the renegade and it was just around the corner from lone pine, where is it that you fished?

Super photos Bmarsh! Thanks for taking us along!

Kudos to you! As I said previously, a Parachute Adams worked great for me when I spent my time fly fishing Birch Creek. Looks like you found the sweetness.[]

we fished it above kaufman, any more than that and you will have to do some hiking and exploring on your own, its what we do [
]
thanks don, not too bad for pics off of the phone eh.

Very cool, especially for a phone. I recognize where you were fishing.

Were you throwing a fly right at the bridge next to Kaufman right when the rain started? Camo waders I think. On the way to the BLM campground I saw a guy walking on the road with a stringer full of fish...felt bad for him because he was wearing waders to stay dry but walking back to his car (presumably at Kaufman) in the rain. Had about a quarter mile to go.
If I'd have checked which threads were active I would have put my report in this one!

Nope that wasn't I. I rarely keep fish ( nothing against it, just don't eat them too often). We fished a few miles above kaufman today actually.

well i don't know where kaufman is. we fished just around the bend north of lone pine and then went up to where the river crossed to the east side of the road. thats as far as i got to go. my wife wanted to ride her dirtbike more than fish so i couldn't find too many places.

Sounds like you were at Kaufman to me
. That little campsite past Lone Pine after the river crosses back to the other side of the road is Kaufman.

well i didn't fish at kaufmans then i only fished right by lone pine, i wanted to try that mayb ei will give it a try next weekend if i get away again. thanks for keeping my bearings straight.

That was me hiking back to Kaufman. No need to feel badly - I'll walk a couple of miles in waders any day for fishing like that. They were hitting the ultralight spinning gear like nobody's business. It was an even mix of rainbows and brookies, all small except one 11-inch rainbow (holdover?).
Still, I haven't had a great day of fishing since the ice came off of Ririe. And it wasn't crowded at all. My only regret was that I left my flies home and couldn't try out the fly rod a friend built for me. Doh!

I'd of stopped and offered you a ride.
We sunk a raft one time in the canyon below Salmon and the first bridge in February. No one would stop and give me a ride and I was pretty wet after swimming the raft to the inside bank. After that I have never passed up a fisherman in waders!

I would have stopped and offered a ride if we had an open seat! I did think about pushing the wife out and making her wait for us to come back briefly....very briefly
