I know that it has for me. Usually this time of year April-Sept. I go once a month on camping/fishing trips to Northern Nevada as in Eagle Valley/Echo Canyon, Sunnyside or Ely lakes (Illipah/Cave Lake).
But this year with the economy and gas prices I have to rethink my trips. My wife works for the school district and is slated to go part time because of the budget cuts. And my job as an independent contractor- Residential Property Inspector has been affected the last two years by the housing crunch. I don't get as much work and I have seen a 20% decrease in income.
So I've been staying close to home and fish nearby Lake Mead or Lake Mojave. Also I'll fish Floyd Lamb which is 15 minutes from my house when I start jonesing to wet a line.
I'll be going to Pioche in July for our youth church camp so that is when I'll fish Eagle Valley. And I'll be staying in the overflow campgrounds to forgo the $15 nightly camping fees. No conveniences so I'll have to carry in water and build some shade with a tarp and poles instead of having a shaded picnic table and nearby modern restrooms (instead of a vault toilet) in the campsites.
So how are you coping with limited $$ resources for fishing, if at all?

Well, for the past six months, my fishing time has been seriously limited. I used ti fish all the time when my wife wasn't working, but now she has finished college, and she is working at The Cosmopolitan Casino as one of the assistant directors of horticulture. If it grows there, she has something to say about it.
But that means my truck is at the Cosmopolitan fifty prime hours a week.
That all changes today.
I am picking up the new car for my wife this afternoon (that my parents have so graciously donated to us) and I will be spending a ton more time on the water. I need to work out some bugs before the US Open.
As far as my tackle, I am kind of a junkie. Economic crunch or not, Im still spending too much on tackle. Man, I love tackle warehouse.

It has definitely affected me. This time last year I was fishing about once a week. Now I'm lucky to make it once a month. Between gas prices and everything else becoming more expensive, I just can't put gas in my thirsty truck as often.

yup me too it cost me 120-130 to fill my bronco's 33 gallon tank. and at 8 miles to the gallon gulp gulp gulp gulp its gone within a week. gets pretty expensive after awhile, plus i was incapacitated for some time with gout in my feet, i missed alot of work so my hours got cut at work and now i'm really paying for it. WTF where is the relief?

I definitely don't get to the lake, I would say half as, much as I did since about Jan & Feb. I recently took a vacation to Long Beach w/ my girl that broke my ass completely. So, the repercussions of irresponsible spending has had me up night after night, waking in a cold sweat pulling a fever-dream fish up to my bedside...its a
pathetic existence when you don't have the money, time or equipment to get your fix lol
But soon overtime will be getting me a quantum escalade baitcaster and st croix...never again will I buy shitty gear

I ran accross my fishing log for last year April and May. I was going nearly twice a week! I have cut back more than I thought!

I went about 2-3 times a week last year between April-Sept. But now, maybe once a week. Its $50 on gas each time with hauling the boat and what-not. Especially if our usual spots aren't biting, gotta run around the lake looking for fish. Even thinking about getting rid of the boat and just get a couple of used jet skis to fish with instead.

[cool]I fish from the seadoos in the summer. A great way to chase down boils. We use pack rods so that we don't have to carry a rod while traveling to and from our fishing zone.

Gas prices are the reason I don't fish every other day. I only fish spring and summer, maybe a little bit of fall. Since I started this year, I've been getting out once to twice a week. I have been out every weekend for the last 7 weeks, sometimes twice a week.
I have a new truck and it eats up gas [frown]. It's costing about 30 bucks in gas for a round trip to Willow Beach. Looks like its costing about 40 bucks round trip to get to Stewarts Point. I still make it out at least once a week.
I only fish from shore cause I have no boat, but I would be more then willing to let anyone tag along with me when I go. Sometimes I keep long hours at the water though.
