We mostly played around with a bass bite this morning, which was terrible. White bass were plentiful. I did land one spot downriver along riprap, and we put a few other white bass/channels in the boat. At the dam we landed a pretty good number of white bass, the ones that were big enough to inhale a shad or shiner. Most of the shad were just skinned up.

I hooked a good fish after awhile and handed it to Dad, then it made a jump. I'm assuming, oh it's a nice sized smallmouth. I didn't see the jump, only heard it. Then, it peels a fair amount of drag. Dad gets tired after awhile and hands the rod to me. Now, we are below the railroad bridge. I am totally
by this point, as it was big and agile, so I didn't think it was a drum or blue. It would have been a world record smallmouth. What is this? Dad gets his energy back and I pass the rod. We got the big surprise of the year, a sturgeon! Holy cow, what a fight and I have never held one before, only got to pet them at the aquarium. It was really cool. After that, we put about 5 cats in the boat on my last piece of chicken breast. We found the bigger blue cat line with each 1 piece left, and a big fish broke us both off. Time to change line, I guess 500 plus pounds of fish from the weekend will do that to light line.

We finished up with lunch at Nick's Deli. What a surprise for my dad and me. That probably won't happen again!

If I get bored enough I might go later, but I am wiped and really sore from a bulging hand from a blue sticking me yesterday with its fin.
