so, has anyone been fishing cascade lately? my folks will be up at our place over memorial and i wouldnt mind getting up there if the reports are halfway decent. trout? perch?

i heard they are catching a few big perch at the upper end, but i'd be curious as to how the south end is doing around crown point, etc. a mess of 2lb. perch wouldnt be a bad thing!

thanks,

We were up there yesterday, primarily visiting my sister-in-law who manages the Y camp at Horsethief. They were catching trout at Horsethief. We fished Corral Creek for a short period with poor results. Stopped in Cascade for dinner at the golf course, and watched a fellow down by the ramp catching perch at a regular rate. Talked to him after dinner and saw the perch....monsters. The trick, he said, was to find them. His uncle had been fishing all day with only one pike minnow caught. He said they move around each day. One day they are south of the ramp, and the next day north of it. He was going way out with tons of weight. Hope this helps. Mike

Fished a tournament there a week and a half ago... we weren't targeting perch but caught several on bass gear. HUGE perch. Biggest perch I ever caught - almost kept it as I think it would have gone 2.5+ lbs.... I looked up the state record later that night and wished I would have weighed it. Anyway, we caught several big perch not far from sugar loaf and around the island.

It was cold and windy this weekend. I caught a few big perch but never really got into them - it was tough fishing out of a pontoon. The campgrounds are empty.
