I fished Tibble Fork this AM (3 inches snow, blizzard early) and caught a trout with characteristics I was not familiar with.. Sorry, no camera.
The markings of the trout most approached those of a rainbow, but the lower jaw was shorter and the head a bit more tapered. The most striking characteristic was rows of BLACK teeth - now white. These were on the forward one third part of the , side of the lower jaw, just on the inner margin of the upper jaw, and additional rows on both sides just a little off midline of the upper jaw. 50 years of fishing, and it was the first time I had seen a trout like this. My fishing partners had never seen one like it before either.
No clipped fins to suggest hatchery origins. I figured it might be a wild cross of species, but not one that I recognized.
Any suggestions?
