Full Version: Colorado State Parks Join "Explore Your Park Day"

DENVER - Colorado State Parks has partnered with The North Face to present the "Explore Your Parks" program, which includes interpretive signs in the parks, an outdoor event at Barr Lake State Park in August, activity guides and a day pass voucher, good at all 42 Colorado State Parks, with the purchase of select The North Face gear or clothing.

The North Face has assisted Colorado State Parks in providing new and refurbished interpretive signs for three parks: Barr Lake State Park, Jackson Lake State Park and Castlewood Canyon State Park. The North Face is also offering an activity guide and a day pass voucher for customers who purchase select The North Face gear or clothing. The activity guide includes outdoor recreation highlights as well as details on the Colorado State Parks where you can enjoy these activities. "This is a great opportunity for Colorado State Parks to partner with national organizations and a major manufacturer of outdoor gear and clothing, The North Face, to bring new visitors to the parks to enjoy the wealth of recreation opportunities at the parks," said Gary Thorson, Colorado State Parks' Assistant Director. "The State Parks endorse the "Explore Your Parks" effort because our mission is to get everyone outdoors."<br />
The North Face launched the second annual program to encourage families to get outdoors and enjoy the nation's State Parks. The North Face, along with American Hiking Society, Leave No Trace, The National Park Trust and State Parks across the country, have teamed up for seven events across the country, including one at Barr Lake State Park in Brighton, on Aug. 1. The North Face will host the other six events throughout the summer in the Bay Area, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Portland, and Minneapolis/Saint Paul. By providing families with assistance and opportunities to enjoy the open spaces near them, these groups are actively supporting Let's Move Outside, the outdoor recreation component of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move campaign to end childhood obesity.<br />
"Drawing attention to close-to-home outdoor opportunities for everyone, from children to seniors, to get outside, get healthy, and have fun is at the core of the Let's Move Outside," said Robin Schepper, executive director of Let's Move!. "Bringing families into the State Parks is not only enjoyable, but also helps build lasting lessons in fitness and the natural environment."<br />
