I am thinking of taking my husband fishing out to Locomotive Springs for Fathers Day, does anyone know how the fishing is out there? What kinds of fish are they catching, what are they using? TIA

Not so sure thats a good idea, but I could (and probably am) wrong. As I remember Locomotive Springs barely had enough water for the rabbits & coyotes to drink, it wasn't much for hunting, marve worse for fishing. But who knows with the weather like it has been marve there is enough water in there for a fish our two. If there are fish in there I recon they are very small.
Take him some where with good fishing & some shade. Either way, he's got himself a good Fathers Day gift.

Welcome to the site Fishing Chick. Where you live my determine if LS is a good place to fish. It is a long drive on a dirt road, unless you live in the Snowville or Tremonton area. They do stock the ponds but as far as I know all that are in there are trout and carp. IMO, unless you live in that area there are much better places to fish but if that is where you are going, try the normal trout baits like power bait, night crawlers, salmon eggs or small lures like Mepps, Panther Martin, even a fly behind a casting bubble should work early or late in the evening. Good luck and let us know how you and your husband do.

I made it out to locomotive springs 2 times this year. It is good fishing in march early april. About this time of year it really starts to slow down. They stock it in early march and then forget about it. It is super shallow with alot of moss as it warms up. It is a little bit of a drive but if you like seeing sagebrush it is a pretty one! Good luck. Like wiperhunter said, I think there is alot better and prettier places to fish this time of year.

LS is only stocked in fall/winter and early spring. When the stinking cormorants move in during the spring, they clean up on all the leftover planters out there.
