4:30 AM, sounds like a great day, I'm going fishing!!!

Now I remember why I don't do this more often. At least I could nap when I got home.

Pretty, pretty morning! I went out and threw the cast net way too many times, but got enough shad for the morning. The suprise was that they were mostly gizzard shad rather than threadfin, but pretty much the perfect size. I've never run into a lot of gizzards at the Sequoyah discharge before. They were in tight balls and hard to find, not like other years when the threadfin were in thick layers. I wonder why??

I fished the channel edges and got a great mixed bag again, but I had the best luck much deeper than usual. The fish were best for me today at 30 to 40 feet deep!! Best bass of the day was a largemouth right at 4 pounds, and none of the bass were undersized. Only one spotted bass was in the mix too. I missed lots of fish today, but I suspect most were white bass, small drum, and small cats. Still, there was lots of action, and I did run out of bait. I tried for catfish at the discharge, but there was pretty much nothing going on with them there. I hope some of the early spawning cats will be back soon.

And I wondered who I would C onthelake, and sure enough drumking brought CUonthelake with him and stopped by to introduce her. Really terrific to meet the talented (and lovely, especially compared to drumking) Miss Candi!!! I look forward to seeing her posts on the forum! Bassert stopped by to poke fun at me and complain that drumking took CU instead of him (well, DUH!!!) and I spent a goodly amount of time chatting with and fishing near DRC. I guess nobody works on Thursdays????

Everything is great with the boat except it won't lock into reverse, and I have not had any problem working around that on the lake. I hope to get together with James (Wretchin2) this weekend and change the reverse gear out. It's always something with a boat, but it kind of goes with the territory. To be perfectly honest, I have trouble getting myself into gear about half of the time, but James can't do much with MY lower unit.....................
