Well, today we finally got to play with our newest addition to the boat. Kali bought me a Trollmaster 2 for my birthday, but admits that it was mostly for her! No more trips back to adjust the trolling motor for her. If you are not familiar with Trollmasters, they are remote digital throttle adjusters. There is a control box in the front of the boat with an on/off button, an "idle" button, and a max speed button. You can adjust your speed with the idle button with great precision, and when a fish hits, you just push the button and the motor immediately goes to the lowest speed. Push it again, and it goes back to the previous trolling speed. If you discover you are heading into rocks, etc. and need full speed quickly, push the max button. Easy as that. I love this control. Every time the wind shifted, or we turned directions, all we had to do was turn the speed nob, and we were back to ideal speed. This was invented by two guys in Culdesac Idaho, but was bought out by a company in Michigan, I believe. They have improved the servo, and a few other tweaks. Bought it through Cabelas. Mike

Got mine last year and love it. You did a great job of describing it's attributes.

Man I thought you were going to say you got a year long gift certificate for bikini wash jobs for the boat. You know to make sure you don't have a Zebra muscle some where[fishon][cool]

Ron, I stand corrected. Second best thing I ever bought for the boat! Mike

have you ever used a TR-1 Gold? Pricey $ buggers but I don't think I can ever not have one! I won't go into all the details but they pretty much do it all-speed, headings, figure 8 and other patterns-truly amazing![cool]

+1 My boat was unmanageable to use for trolling in the wind until I put the TR-1 Gold on it. Amazing is an understatement!
Glad your unit works great for you Mike! My friends that have the Trollmaster love them!

Sounds a lot like what my Minn kota with remote. I love the anchor and gps track features. It will lock onto course, and keep speed regardless of wind speed changes.

some one needs to hot wire gps to those trolling motors there a pain in the but to control. in the wind they need auto piolt like my brothers twin screw.

Both the MinnKota I-Pilot for electric trolling motors and the TR-1 Gold for gas kickers does just that.
