Just got back from four days on Brownlee. The first two were wind/rain/cold. The last two days were nice. The fishing was great. This years batch of Crappie seem to be a lot bigger than in years past. We decided on the second day to start keeping them since they were nice slabs on most of the ones we caught. We were mainly going for bass so we were throwing 1/4 oz. bass jigs and tubes and still managed to catch 100 or so Crappie a day. We picked up about 100 or so smallies also. We found the greatest concentration of fish on the outside points in about 10-15 feet of water. That kind of fishing is well worth the five hour trip for us every year. [Smile]

On our way back we stopped and fished CJ Strike. It was our first time on that reservoir. I could not believe how many boats were on the water yesterday. We launched at the dam and I had to park on the paved road because everything else was full. I was very eager to start to fish because it looked like a very productive area. We fished for four hours all over and only caught one 16 pound Carp. I only had one other bite as far as I could tell. I didn't see anyone else catching fish out on the water. When we pulled out I saw two other guys cleaning a few Crappie that was all. Talking with other guys they had about the same success as we did. When the catching picks up we sure would like to give it another try. Still a great trip to western Idaho!! [fishin]

The biggest was 15 but we did manage to catch alot in the 13-14 range. These fish at that size still give a good fight. They are all healthy and fat so it was fun to play them in and watch them come out of the water.

Not sure which browned you were at, but I was there all day and tried all kinds of different things. We caught 3 crappie all day, and one bass. Tried many different areas around woodhead park area.talked to 5 or 6 other boats, and similar stories..

Not quite sure what you are trying to say. All I can tell you is that our boat totaled 86 Crappie on Wednesday, 74 Crappie on Thursday and about 40 on a half day Friday. We probably had the same smallmouth ratio to those numbers each day.
