I would live line. Just lip hook your live bait and toss it in. Give it enough slack line to swim around. If you like to fish the bottom use a slip rig or to bring it up, use a dropper loop or three way swivel rig at about 12-18" from the sinker.

eagle claw size 4 snelled bait holders will usually work for most applications, i also use size 4 circle hooks, and size 2 salmon/steelhead hooks.[fishon]

This is what I have been using, all the line strengths and types can vary, hooks also. The main thing I like to use is the Mono leader, not because it harder to see, but it will help the fish swim. Mono is a bit more buoyant, some people say it floats but I haven't tested it in my sink yet lol.
I just been using my bigger setup with 30lb braid for live bait fishing from shore cause I snapped a line once. You might catch a monster.

Disregard all my above info unless you catch some live shad lol.
Yes, use cut up anchovies, I think they work best. I use earthworms because they are slightly cleaner and stay on the hook better, but I do think anchovies work best. I don't use heads or tails, just bodies. Throw the heads and tails in as chum.
Fishing off the bottom works good and its what i do. I use a carolina rig with a piece of anchovy on it.

Yas, striper bite night crawlers, cats bite them too. I say bring both, and a 99 cent can of corn incase both those don't get bites. I go without an icechest, thats another reason why I don't use anchovies.
I still think anchovies work best though.

You could try out this rig here. Use it with three hooks or two, adjust any line lengths to your liking. There are a couple ways to do it without using three way swivels, but I'm not exactly sure how to tie the knots needed.
I think its called a Hi Lo rig.
Or this two hook setup. Two hooks are less likely to get tangled up.

Remember you can only use two bait hooks on mead per pole. Lures can have 3 and not more than 2 lures per pole.
crazedfisher21:
Live Sardine or Anchovies are a saltwater bait and would die in freshwater.
Also we don't fish anything heavier than 15# mono.
Try fishing with a jighead (leadhead) and a chunk of Sardine.

[cool]Another tip is to inflate the crawler with air. Most tackle shops should have a little squeeze bottle with a needle in it for this purpose. This keeps the worm just off the bottom and is easier for the fish to see.

Maybe my information is wrong but I have been to a few sites this year that say, three baited hooks per pole. All the sites say the same thing.

Bah, I'm wrong like alwyas. The three hook thing is a Nevada regulation, but Lake Mead only allows two hooks. You just have to read deeper into the last link.
If you type Lake Mead fishing regulations into the google search engine. Then click on the first two links and read the entire pages, it sounds like you can use three hooks. Even on the third link, it says three hooks on page 9. You have to read deeper into the last link on page 26 it does say only 2 baited hooks per pole on Mead.
