While I understand and frequently agree with the lock down of posts, I strongly disagree with the lock down of the "Poacher" post. Even if taken to court and deemed not guilty, I seriously doubt "innocent" would apply. This type of behavior creates strife for all outdoorsman & women. In a time where there are battles going on in behalf of the public (thanks be to USAC), it is imperative that poor behavior be called out and an example be made of it. Rather that be a left behind soda can or the apparent actions of the accused. I urge the moderators to allow and even promote open policing of poor behavior.

Guilty or not, we do not allow attacks on the site. Some posts were over the line and were deleted moments after being posted. These posts were not up long. We left the ones that were within the guidelines of the site. I did not lock it, but support the decision to do so because of these attack posts.

Both sides had shared their thoughts and the thread was at the point that it was starting to get ugly. When a thread reaches that point we often lock it. Moderators don't have the time or the energy to police a thread 24/7 to edit and delete statements and language that do not belong on BFT.

I ask you if we do not police our own and expect the highest standards of behavior how do we look to the public at large. Situations like this are exactly why I can no longer knock on a door and be welcomed to fish.
If things become ugly then I say... Sorry but you brought it on yourself. As my pastor says A burden of life is bearing the consequences of our actions. And, frankly I do not see where anything was close to "ugly" or undeserved. JMHO

The mods don't get paid and with as heated as that thread was getting, sometimes the posts just have to be locked so the language and other things don't get out of hand and the mods don't have to baby sit. I for one am not offended by the language but the mods are informed as to what is tolerated and what is not. They are just trying to keep things peaceful, productive, and somewhat on topic. And sometimes it just takes too much time to monitor a thread like that. Since they are doing it for free, I'd give them a little slack. They can't please everyone.
