I got back from Dworshak last Saturday. Sorry for the late report but there is so much to catch up on at work and at home when you have been gone for 9 days. At least that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it. [laugh]
The water temps averaged 58 deg and the water level rose about 3- 4 feet a day.
The first day my brother and I fished for only about 2-3 hours and got blown off the res. Caught a few but never really established a pattern.
The second day my wife and I fished about a half a day and did establish a solid pattern tha held the rest of the week. [
]
We caught about 20 nice ones before my trolling motor fuse holder melted. We spent the rest of the day fixing that little problem.
The rest of the week I fished with either my Dad or my brother and we had 40-50 fish days some dinks with plenty of nice keepers. The biggest were 5 fish that were 16 inches. Most keepers were 13 - 14 inchers with a smattering of 15 inchers. [
]
The females were starting to egg up and were getting pooch bellied. It looked to be a pre-spawn situation was just beginning, hungry females and agressive males.
We never found the 5 pound plus fish I was looking for but maybe next time!
If you are going up there and want to know the details of the pattern we fished just PM me OK? I would be happy to tell you what I know!
Check out the attached pix. These are a few examples of some of the fish we caught. All fish were returned un harmed.
