Sand Hollow 6/12 and 6/13
Hey Whizzle, thanks for the info. I didn't actually read it till I got back lol, but I talked to some folks tubing out there, and they where killing it with senkos on a lightly weighted hook. Rigged weedless of course. I kind of matched it, with a senko rigged weedless, but I used a carolina rig. My weighted worm hooks wouldn't get out far enough. The shallows where infested with kids bluegill fishing lol.
It was my first time there, and I really didn't know what to expect. We arrived around 8am on Sunday. The lake was almost completely camped, all the good spots where taken for sure. I drove around the backside and talked to some folks and most everybody was leaving by noon. So the good campsite in the back there was going to be open, I just needed to burn some time.
Me and my wife went back around to the front of the lake, the day use only section. It was pretty cool, they fishing was pretty good in that area and there was a cool cliff maybe 25 fee high, so I did some cliff jumping for an hour and then fished for a bit.
We went back around to the backside of the lake and the main area back there was cleared almost completely. Just one huge family on one side and we took the other side. Fishing for bass was a bit slow, there where 6 kids with the family running around in the shallows there, waist deep catching bluegill. I think they pushed all the bass to the backside of the reeds. There was a guy fishing in a tube on the backside of the reeds there and he was catching a bass every like 15 minutes.
I only caught a few bass in the shallows there, and they where all very small, 10" inches at most. I did join in with the kids there and catch a bunch of bluegill with them. The family there had about 50 of them, all good size. They had a fish fry that night, it was awesome lol.
I got off a few pics with the good camera on the way in before the battery died, but none of fish, oh well. I'm usually taking tons of photos or videos but I had some battery issues this time out. I almost ran over this little guy on the road while arriving. I had to catch and release him because I wanted to get a couple good pictures of him. Im kind of a reptile freak also. You just don't see these guys around anymore.
Here are a some more pics of the campsite, sorry no fish photos. ROFL, I did catch some.
This pic here is of a reservoir right down the street from Sand Hollow. I think it was Called Quail Creek. This is the back corner of the lake, it looks pretty good for fishing. We stopped by to take a look at it on the way out of utah.
I cant wait to go back, and I plan on making a few yearly trips out there. Let me know if anyone heads out there, Ill show up, if I'm not busy.
