Oregon Fishing Update

December 14th - December 21st, 2001

Fisheries update: Fishing has been good this week in various Northern Coastal locations, with the Wilson and Kilchis giving up a portion of their bounty of steelhead and chinook. Three Rivers has been fishing well for steelhead as the Nestucca remains out of shape. Forecasts of wind and rain may put the kibosh on fishing here for a while.

Keep an eye on the smaller streams. Alsea, Elk, Sixes and Rogue Rivers have all been fishing well. Clackamas and Sandy Rivers are receiving fresh winter steelhead. Anglers are advised to stop using divers and bait as natives enter due to the high mortality rate resulting from the use of such rigs. Deschutes anglers continue to take steelhead & redsides.

Sturgeon fishing is picking up in the Trojan area, has been slow at Kelly Point/Terminal 6 but remains best up in the Gorge. Sturgeon have been taken in the Umpqua and from Tillamook Bay. Clatsop beaches opened to razor claming December 7th.

Good evening tides coincide with coastal storms. Walling and Wirth Ponds were stocked this week. Detroit is putting out trout limits.

Become a subscriber at
http://www.theguidesforecast.com/

Get more Oregon fishing information at
http://www.theguidesforecast.com
