I need some help
This will be my first time drift boat fishing. Will be on the south fork and Teton for three day trips
what is the best to wear?
should I just wear waders and wet boots?
or is it better to wear water proof pants and water proof boots?
sounds like we will be in the boat most of the day which will be new for me
I have always fished in the river and not in a boat so Im wanting to make sure I have the best gear on
any help would be appreciated !

Sounds like fun.
My suggestion would be to bring the waders and wading boots along in case the weather is not so great and if you plan on getting out and wading a lot. The thing I would caution you on is (without starting a debate) waders can incapacitate you to some degree by chance you fall in. Just last year an experienced guide on the South Fork drowned while wearing waders. I don't know the specifics or if the waders had anything to do with it, but be careful. Wear a PFD regardless while wearing waders. If the weather is warm enough, and sometimes when it isn't, I wear pants or shorts that dry quickly and boots or sandals made for wading.
Good Luck.

I would want to know when you plan to be doing the day trips. Later in the year I usually wet wade it in sandals and shorts, but for a few weeks after the runoff starts backing off I usually wear waders. And as mentioned make sure you wear the PFD, especially while in the boat, and a very smart move when out of it as well.

Thank you for your input. I will bring waders and boots and also my normal wet wading clothes of shorts and wet shoes. I really dont feel like sitting in a boat for 8 hours with waders on if I can avoid it.
I will definatley wear my PFD

For the Henry's Fork I like rubber legs w/ a copperjohn dropper or a san juan worm under an indicator. If spin fishing I prefer panther martins (holographics usually), but Rapalas also seem to do ok at times, but hang up more. Pretty much the same for the S. Fork, but I'll use the rapalas more often. If you hit either one during a hatch go w/ what is similar to the rising bugs. I've heard there are stoneflys on sections of the Henry's Fork. On the S. fork I wouldn't expect them until at least July.
