Lower Provo River flows are back down to a good fishable rate. I fished the Provo this morning just below the dam and was able to catch 9 fish in 2.5 hours using a malibu jig. It was a good flow on the wider parts of the river but still a bit to swift in the narrower parts. Flow started at 540 cfs at 5 am and was brought down to 493 cfs by 11 am. Exceptable flow to fish.

Below Jordanelle or Deer Creek? How was the water clarity?

Thanks for the report,

Below Deer Creek. The water clarity is not the best (low-medium visibility).

Nice!

What is a malibu jig?

Sorry about the typo. I meant a Maribu jig. Maribu is the type of feather used. The actual jig name is a "White River Zig Jig". They sell these jigs up at the fly and tackle stores in Dutch John. You can also by them online. I have been using this jig for 6 years and it is awesome. 4 weeks ago I was fishing the Green River and caught 54 fish in one day 8 hours of fishing.

What color marabou jig do you have the best luck with?

I started with a Black/Chartreuse (fluorescent yellow) which is the killer jig on the Green River with no luck. Then I switched to a White with Krystal Flash in it and caught all 9 with this jig.

Sorry, I know what marabou is... I thought that maybe there was a malibu jig... probably is somewhere, right?

I tie my own jigs and flies, and marabou is killer! Especially on the Green like you mentioned. (when it's not 9000cfs)

I haven't personally fished the Green River with a 9000 cfs flow but my guess is that the jig would work still the same. The secret would be to get a heavier jig head like 1/2 oz heavy enough to sink it deep into the holes. I heard from the fly shops in Dutch John that when the flow was high at 9000 cfs fishing was fantastic. They were catching a lot of fish but of course you would need a boat.
