I have some tentative plans to take my new to me fishing boat out to Strawberry probably the soldier creek side either this weekend or early next week and I just want to have a good time/catch some good fish. I have had some good luck trolling with needlefish lures at deer creek this year, I am fairly new to boat fishing, just don't know if I'm supposed to do it the same everywhere or what. Any help on where to go or what to use would be greatly appreciated. reply or PM me if you feel more comfortable with that. Thanks!

Tolling is trolling and is quite similar from lake to lake. However some lures will and do work better on one body of water than another.
When you get into it far enough you have down riggers and planer boards and... well you'll know what's what by then and be on here teaching the next generation.
For now you will want to try trolling a wedding ring tipped with worm. I would use rapalas too. Those were my go to set ups when I trolled from a small boat. Now I use a kick boat and fly fish/troll.
Hey maybe you should take an old man fishing with you (me) and he could show you the ropes up there.

Needlefish should also work fine at Strawberry. Vary your speed and your depth until you locate them. I would start by fishing close to the shorelines and then move out from there.

Hope you get this soon enough.
Green goop is gospel @ Da Berry. Last week, we anchored in 8' to 20' of water and caught plenty on chartreuse Powerbait. I refused the goop and threw everything I had at them with no luck--spinners, jigs, Rapala, worms, worm tipped jigs, jigs below spinners, tandem worms and spinners, everything except spoons because I had none. No luck.
